Wattss and Enervion form European partnership to provide reliable battery storage for communities and industry
Wattss Group and Enervion, a new Finnish company within the Instalco group, have entered into a partnership to build modern battery energy storage systems across Europe. These systems help stabilize electricity grids, support renewable energy, and ensure that homes, businesses, and entire regions have access to reliable power, even during periods of high demand or fluctuating weather.
The collaboration builds on a relationship that is already delivering tangible results: Wattss and Enervion are jointly developing four battery storage projects with a total capacity of 64 MWh, all scheduled to go live in 2026. These projects demonstrate how the partnership is already converting shared know‑how into practical, high‑quality solutions that strengthen local and regional energy security.
Wattss contributes experience from successfully delivered energy infrastructure, including Switzerland’s largest battery storage system, which has been operating since 2020 and continues to support grid stability in Central Switzerland. With more than 300 MWh of additional projects developed in Germany and Finland, the company brings proven expertise in site development, integration, operations, and long‑term asset performance.
Enervion adds Finnish engineering excellence and EPC capability rooted in one of Europe’s most advanced and reliable electrical systems. The Nordic region is known for robust technical standards, precise engineering, and the ability to build high‑performance systems that operate reliably even in harsh conditions. By anchoring engineering and construction work in Finland, the partnership also creates regional jobs and strengthens Europe’s own energy industry.
The collaboration benefits not only grid operators but also commercial and industrial (C&I) companies. Businesses such as factories, logistics centres, and data hubs increasingly rely on battery storage to manage electricity costs, reduce exposure to volatile markets, and secure their operations against outages or fluctuations. With long experience delivering tailored C&I solutions, Wattss provides these customers with reliable, modern energy tools that support their competitiveness and sustainability goals.
Marco Rüegg, CEO of Wattss Group, highlights the significance of the partnership: “People and businesses want reliable energy. Our partnership combines our proven project experience with the engineering strength that Finland is known for. With four joint projects totalling 64 MWh already in development for 2026, we are delivering storage systems that communities and industry can truly rely on — built in Europe, for Europe.”
Anssi Laaksonen, Managing Director of Enervion, emphasizes the value of Nordic expertise: “Finland has a long tradition of engineering excellence. By working with Wattss, we can bring our capabilities to more customers across Europe. Our goal is simple: build solutions that remain safe, reliable, and future‑proof for decades.”
By focusing on European technology, transparent supply chains, and strong local capabilities, the partnership supports Europe’s path toward greater energy independence. It ensures renewable energy can be used more effectively, strengthens the stability of the electricity grid, and provides businesses and communities with dependable, sustainable infrastructure. Additional joint projects in the Nordics, Germany, Finland, and further European markets will be announced later this year.
Wattss Group develops, integrates, and operates large battery storage systems with a strong focus on European technology and long‑term reliability. Enervion, part of the Instalco group, provides engineering and construction services for energy and industrial clients from its Finnish base, known for quality and precision.
